CMS INCREASES INSPECTIONS
  OF AMBULATORY SURGICAL CENTERS

"CMS has committed to inspecting one-third of all ASCs nationwide this year. All ASCs have a responsibility to correct deficient practices. Failing to correct serious deficiencies will mean the risk of termination from the Medicare program." *

Dempsey Can Help Support Your Infection Control Program

42 CFR 416.51(b) requires that ASCs follow nationally recognized guidelines for Infection Control. Both the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN) and The Joint Commission (TJC) recommend that surgical attire should
be laundered in a health care-accredited laundry facility and specifically cite Healthcare Laundry Accreditation Council’s (HLAC) accreditation.** CFR §416.41(a) Contract Services Guidelines requires that contractor services must be included in the ASC’s QAPI program.

Attire:
Scrubs, Lab Coats and Barrier Gowns can be rented and laundered by Dempsey.

Accreditation:
Surgical attire is laundered in Dempsey’s health care-accredited laundry facility. Accreditation achieved through the Healthcare Laundry Accreditation Council (HLAC).
