Choose Dempsey and enjoy three unique benefits:
Highest Laundry Certification
Do you know who, if anyone, inspects your current laundry supplier to evaluate and ensure sanitary conditions?
At Dempsey, to support your infection control program, we’ve committed to the highest level of certification, Hygienically Clean Healthcare Certification by TRSA™. It’s the only laundry program that requires third-party bacteriological testing of linen cleanliness. We earn continued certification through quarterly testing of our products and processes, providing Dempsey customers with proof of compliance and peace of mind.
Highest Quality Products
We know your nursing staff gets frustrated when they waste valuable time searching for clean linens or, even worse, when a patient finds a stained gown first.
At Dempsey, we leverage technology, like our ProductPlus™ program, to provide quality products that improve your patient experience. We start with well-known Medline scrubs, gowns and sheets, process them with the most advanced laundry equipment, and inspect them with the most tenured team in the business. Each package of linen will be clean and usable, saving you time and money.
Lowest Total Cost
We know linen invoices can be confusing. After all, how can you control the cost when you don’t even know how many linens you are using?
At Dempsey, we leverage technologies, like our VacuTrack™ and CustomerPortal systems, to provide transparent billing that helps you reduce your linen supply cost per case. We accurately track the soiled linens you turn in - and let you view those numbers in your online Customer Portal - then, we only bill you based on your usage.

Hagerstown is sometimes called “The Hub City” by virtue of it being located at the intersection of multiple railroads and highways. Tucked into the narrow neck of Maryland’s western panhandle, immediately above the eastern panhandle of West Virginia, the town is the historical home of many famous railroads including the Baltimore & Ohio, the Norfolk & Western, the Pennsylvania, and the Western Maryland Railway. Today, modern versions of these rail companies include the CSX, Norfolk Southern, and Winchester & Western railroads. Interstates 81 and 70 pass through Hagerstown as well, connecting northern New York State to eastern Tennessee, and Baltimore to Utah, respectively.
Owing to its historic intersections, it could be said that Hagerstown was pressed into medical service by the demands of the Civil War. Located just South of the Mason-Dixon line and only 70 miles from Washington, D.C., Hagerstown found itself near multiple critical Civil War sites, including the Battles of South Mountain, Antietam (also called Sharpsburg), and Gettysburg. During the war, this hotly contested center of railroading changed hands between Union and Confederate forces multiple times, and citizens and physicians in the town valiantly cared for troops from both sides. Facilities pressed into serving as makeshift hospitals included the Franklin Hotel, Key-Mar College, Hagerstown Male Academy, Lyceum, Washington House, and many private residences.
Following the war, Maryland and Virginia cooperated in reinterring hundreds of soldiers buried in makeshift graves from nearby battlefields. While more than 60% were unable to be unidentified, the remains have been interred in the Washington Confederate Cemetery, within Rose Hill Cemetery in Hagerstown. Over time, demand for medical services continued as returning sick soldiers fueled smallpox outbreaks. When an epidemic began spreading like wildfire throughout the town, The Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church was quickly repurposed as a hospital.
Today, medical services continue to play a strong role in Hagerstown. A major employer in the city is the Meritus Medical Center, a community hospital specifically designed to offer world-class medical care to the poorest and most vulnerable members of the population. The hospital has been the beneficiary of awards and acclaim from the American Heart Association, the American Stroke Association, and the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses. At Dempsey Uniform & Supply, we are proud to supply uniform rentals, linens, Hygienically Clean laundry service, and facility supplies to a wide variety of healthcare and medical facilities in the Hagerstown region.
Hagerstown is also home to the Brook Lane Psychiatric Center, a private mental health facility that offers help for children, adolescents, and adults in cases of emotional and/or behavioral disabilities. Additionally, the Western Maryland Hospital Center, a state-run, chronic-care health center, is a leading provider in the region for brain injuries, rehabilitation, long-term care, dialysis, and other acute care.
