Dempsey Wins Lifetime Achievement Award
The TRSA Operator Lifetime Achievement Award is the highest honor that can be attained by a professional in the textile rental industry. The award recognizes exceptional personal service to both the textile services industry and TRSA. Candidates are nominated by their operator peers and are ultimately selected by the TRSA Executive Committee.
LeWIS WINS VOLUNTEER LEADERSHIP AWARD
Mark Lewis, Corporate Sales Manager, received the TRSA Volunteer Leadership Award at the association’s Annual Conference & Exhibits 2011. TRSA is the national association of the textile rental services industry, whose members provide uniform rental and linen services to business and industry across the United States and Canada. The Volunteer Leadership Award acknowledges the contributions of TRSA volunteer leaders that have contributed their time and energy for the better of the industry by sharing their knowledge and experience to support TRSA’s education, training, information-sharing, benchmarking and research and selected by the TRSA Board and staff. Lewis was a featured speaker at the Conference. He lead discussion on TRSA’s new “Clean Green” accreditation program, which focuses on best practices for reducing energy and water consumption and sustainability that reduces a laundry’s impact on the environment.

Dempsey history book wins writing award
Soap in the Veins: 50 Years at Dempsey Uniform & Linen Supply, written by Corporate History.Net, earned a 2011 Apex Grand Award for Special Publications. Tough judging is a hallmark of this program, which set the highest standards in the corporate communications field. Dempsey commissioned the book to celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2009.

On January 28, Dempsey recognized workers from Allied Services in Scranton for their hard work. Employees from Allied's Vocational division have recycled eight million hangers from Dempsey Uniform and Linen Supply over the past three years. "We employ several hundred challenged individuals and to give them this opportunity, it's tremendous for Allied, it's great for the environment, it's good for the community, and it really shows what employers can do when they work together," said Allied Services President Bill Conaboy.
Dempsey presented the Allied employees with a "Golden Hanger" to mark the milestone and their mascot, the Y-Guy™, visited with the workers.

U.S. EPA Sustainability Partnership - 2011

In December 2010, Dempsey Uniform & Linen Supply, Inc. joined the US EPA Sustainability Partnership Program. The Sustainability Partnership (SP) is an EPA Region 3 initiative to facilitate environmental sustainability at major organizations in the mid-Atlantic region through a collaborative effort. By sharing expertise within programs such as WaterSense, Energy Star and WasteWise, etc., EPA has proven that working with industry, institutions and governments can produce significant results in the reduction of waste generation, natural resource usage, and energy consumption. Our collaborative efforts can reduce environmental footprints and often result in cost savings to the organization as well!

Green Business of the Year - 2009
In 2009, Dempsey won the first-ever "Green Powerhouse Award" from the Northeast Pennsylvania Business Journal. Judge Jennifer Porter of Workforce Wayne explained: "These awards recognize some of the first organizations in our region taking voluntary action toward green sustainability. This sustainability is about changing behaviors, and to do this we need peple like those at Dempsey to show the way."

Richard J. “Dick” Dempsey, co-founder of Dempsey Uniform & Linen Supply, died Monday after a battle with cancer. He was 75.
Mark Lewis, Corporate Sales Manager of Dempsey Uniform, participated in a panel discussion focusing on local success stories in the Marcellus Shale region. Lewis explained how Dempsey Uniform, which supplies Flame Resistant (FR) shirts, pants and coveralls, has helped business protect their employees and comply with safety regulations, like
Scranton's St. Patrick's Day Parade took place on March 12th, 2011. Dempsey was in attendance, displaying their "Green Laundry Operation". Together, the Dempsey family, employees and the Y-Guy™ joined in the parade's 50th year to march along the streets of Scranton spreading good cheer, candy & bubbles! Congratulations Dempsey for winning the Most Beautiful Award!


The TRSA described Dempsey as "renowned in the textile services industry for its water- and energy-saving business practices and the goodwill the company has gained from them." As part of the webinar, Dempsey shared its initiatives and encouraged members to undertake efforts that would position them as the most environmentally conscious choice for uniforms and linens.
