Patrick, PJ and Kristin Dempsey have been named "Entrepreneurs of the Year" by Junior Achievement of Northeastern Pennsylvania. They will be inducted into the JA Business Hall of Fame during an induction ceremony at Mount Airy Casino Resort in Mount Pocono, PA on May 30th, 2014. The JA Business Hall of Fame honors business leaders who have made outstanding contributions to free enterprise and to society. Since 1919, Junior Achievement's purpose has been to educate and inspire young people to value free enterprise and understand business and economics to improve the quality of their lives.

Dempsey Uniform & Linen Supply has added disposable gloves to their new line of facility supplies and services. The new product line includes poly, vinyl, latex and nitrile gloves for a wide range of applications and industries, such as food service, manufacturing, janitorial, automotive, plumbing, painting and printing.

Co-founder and Chairman of the Board Pat Dempsey Celebrated his 80th birthday in December 2013. To celebrate this milestone, his son President PJ Dempsey and daughter, Vice President Kristin Dempsey, presented him with a refurbished model of a 1960 International Metro Mite. That was the model that Pat and his brother, co-founder Dick Dempsey, chose for their "founding fleet" of just three trucks in 1960.
The truck was presented to Pat in the Jessup plant in the presence of the production team. Hundreds of employees across the company signed giant cards from each location that were presented to him on his birthday with the truck.
The Textile Rental Services Association (TRSA) recognized Dempsey's Tom Mallas for 50 years of service to the industry at its Annual Conference in Sonoma, CA. Mallas has driven Dempsey's technology advancements during his tenure.
Also recognized for extraordinary tenure were Carmen Libassi, who retired in April, for 45 years, Sal "Sam" DeAngelo for 35 years and Ellie Occulto for 25 years.

Scranton's St. Patrick's Day Parade took place on March 9th, 2013. Dempsey unveiled its new float which include a 10’ inflatable washing machine that blew out real bubbles and – a parade first – three 13’ helium balloons! It was a true family event with the Dempsey family, the Y-Guy, employees and their families marching through Scranton. The new float won the “St. Patrick’s Theme” Award!
Red Kap, the leading manufacturer of quality workwear for the uniform rental industry, awarded Dempsey the designation of "Premier Distributor." The designation recognizes Dempsey's significant purchase volume from Red Kap. "Thank you for your loyalty to Red Kap," said Stuart Jackson, Regional Sales Director, as he presented Dempsey with a plaque in March 2012 in Las Vegas. Dempsey is a single-source supplier of Red Kap garments for the uniform rental programs that it provides to industrial, automotive and manufacturing industries.
For the 3rd straight year, Dempsey's float in the Scranton's St. Patrick's Day Parade was awarded "Most Beautiful Float." The float's theme was "Clean & Green," reflecting Dempsey's laundry operation which cleans uniforms, linens and floor mats in a green, environmentally-friendly way. The Dempsey family, over 100 employees with family members, and the Y-Guy™ marched along the streets of Scranton spreading good cheer, candy & bubbles!

The Textile Rental Services Association (TRSA) has announced that Dempsey Uniform & Linen Supply is the first company in the United States to achieve certification in the TRSA Clean Green Certification Program.
Clean Green Certification recognizes companies that demonstrate responsible leadership in sustainability and conservation to protect the environment. The program acknowledges a textile service company’s continuing commitment to improving efficiencies in water and energy conservation and adoption of best management practices for reusing, reclaiming and recycling resources. A business that receives uniform rentals, linen services, floor mats and other reusable textiles laundered by a Clean Green facility can point to the certification as evidence that these were washed, dried and finished with techniques selected to maximize sustainability.

WNEP News, which is the leader in news coverage for Northeastern Pennsylvania, Central Pennsylvania and the Poconos, featured Dempsey in a segment titled, the “Power to Save.” This environmental initiative shows viewers how businesses and consumers can save money and the environment. WNEP chose to feature Dempsey in this segment after Dempsey received the first Clean Green Certification in the United States. The report showed video highlights of some of Dempsey’s initiatives, which have made it an environmental leader in its industry.

Patrick J. Dempsey’s 50-year career as a company owner in the textile services business took the spotlight at TRSA’s Annual Conference & Exhibits 2011 when he received the association’s Lifetime Achievement Award. TRSA is the national association of the textile rental services industry.

Lewis was a featured speaker at the Conference. He lead discussion on TRSA’s new “Clean Green” accreditation program, which focuses on best practices for reducing energy and water consumption and sustainability that reduces a laundry’s impact on the environment.

Richard J. “Dick” Dempsey, co-founder of Dempsey Uniform & Linen Supply, died Monday after a battle with cancer. He was 75. Dempsey, a natural and gifted salesman, co-founded Dempsey Uniform & Linen Supply, Inc. with his brother Patrick in Dunmore, PA in 1959. They began with five employees and one route of business. Since that time, the company has become a multi-state operation servicing seven states with over three hundred employees. Mark Lewis, Corporate Sales Manager of Dempsey Uniform, participated in a panel discussion focusing on local success stories in the Marcellus Shale region. In February 2011, PPL Electric Utilities entered Dempsey into its E-power® Energy-Smart Business Honor Roll. (ADI) led an interactive "Clean Green" Webinar for members of the Textile Rental Services Association (TRSA) in February. The webinar focused on how a laundry's environmental friendliness has become an important point of difference in selecting one supplier over another.
The TRSA described Dempsey as "renowned in the textile services industry for its water- and energy-saving business practices and the goodwill the company has gained from them." As part of the webinar, Dempsey shared its initiatives and encouraged members to undertake efforts that would position them as the most environmentally conscious choice for uniforms and linens.

On January 28, Dempsey recognized workers from Allied Services in Scranton for their hard work. Employees from Allied's Vocational division have recycled eight million hangers from Dempsey Uniform and Linen Supply over the past three years. "We employ several hundred challenged individuals and to give them this opportunity, it's tremendous for Allied, it's great for the environment, it's good for the community, and it really shows what employers can do when they work together," said Allied Services President Bill Conaboy.
Dempsey presented the Allied employees with a "Golden Hanger" to mark the milestone and their mascot, the Y-Guy™, visited with the workers.
In December 2010, Dempsey Uniform & Linen Supply, Inc. joined the US EPA Sustainability Partnership Program. The Sustainability Partnership (SP) is an EPA Region 3 initiative to facilitate environmental sustainability at major organizations in the mid-Atlantic region through a collaborative effort. By sharing expertise within programs such as WaterSense, Energy Star and WasteWise, etc., EPA has proven that working with industry, institutions and governments can produce significant results in the reduction of waste generation, natural resource usage, and energy consumption.
